Knipol is a reinforced waterproof plastic sheeting which does not discolour and it is used in the agricultural and horticultural industries. The shade netting provides a unique reinforcing membrane that supports the coating giving extra rigidity and strength against wind force and hail.
 
The choice of colour and design of the shade netting used in the make up of a Knipol product directly influences the quantity and quality of light received by plants for photosynthesis and photomorphogenesis.

Are you raising broilers or do you want to keep layer chickens? Rensbou has an innovative and easy solution for housing broilers and layers: The DIY Chicken Tunnel.
A Rensbou chicken tunnel is easy to assemble and requires virtually no maintenance because there are no rust issues or painting to be done and simply hose down to keep clean.
 
Y-standards that are driven into the ground anchor the tunnel. The frame is constructed with strong HDPE (high-density polyethylene) tubes and aluminium.
 
HDPE arch poles and the aluminium spacers are tied together to form a strong durable construction that will last for years and is virtually maintenance-free. Domed shapes can resist the wind very well.
 
The cover is made from Knipol, a 100% waterproof shade netting. Knipol also comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty against UV degradation and has excellent wind resistant properties.
 
There are several flaps that can be opened for ventilation.
Our chicken coop is designed for easy access from the front through a big entrance with a zipped opening in the Knipol waterproof cover.
 
Furthermore, three flaps allow excellent ventilation. For example, the Knipol flaps on the sides of the tunnel can be unzipped and opened simultaneously to allow cross-ventilation at bird level. Behind the flaps, the coop is still enclosed with 40% shade netting. The back door can also be unzipped and rolled up for temperature control.
 
All or some flaps can be closed to increase or decrease temperature and to prevent rain from entering the coop. Flaps fasten with Velcro to keep them rolled up.
A deep litter system is recommended for the bottom of the Chicken Tunnel.
 
Read more about the deep litter system here and here. A concrete slab can be used as the base of the Chicken Tunnel but should be cleaned out regularly to ensure bird health.
